Overview

Over the past 40 years, I have had the privilege of representing a broad array of clients in the most interesting and challenging cases. It has been a hallmark of my career to achieve positive results in the face of tough odds and great adversity. As a litigator, I am steadfast in the pursuit of the most advantageous outcome for my clients, whether it be through mediation, arbitration, settlement or trial. Each case is different and presents its own unique challenges, but my approach has been consistent throughout. I utilize a combination of innovative legal strategies, common sense, sound judgment and relentless determination to obtain the best possible result.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I obtained a B.A. Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from SUNY at Buffalo, then earned my J.D. degree at The George Washington University School of Law. In private practice since 1983, I have represented a wide variety of corporate and individual clients in a broad spectrum of business disputes. I have litigated complex commercial cases and appeals in various New York State and Federal courts. I have handled hundreds of securities arbitrations, as counsel for both claimants and respondents. I have litigated numerous employment-related disputes, including discrimination claims, and I have litigated a wide variety of real estate-related cases, including brokerage disputes. I have also handled many commercial and residential real estate transactions.

I am very proud of my accomplishments and my record as an attorney but also grateful for the opportunity to represent so many worthy people and causes. I look forward to handling your case the only way I know how – with intensity, care, personal attention, and the tools to win.

Litigation & Appeals

Over the span of 40 years, I have represented a wide variety of corporate and individual clients in a broad spectrum of civil litigation. I have litigated business disputes of all shapes and sizes involving legal and equitable remedies - including matters involving breach of contract, fraud, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty, guarantees, licenses, partnerships, brokerage claims, discrimination claims, securities arbitration, etc. I have litigated complex commercial cases in various New York State and Federal courts, including appeals. I represent plaintiffs as well as defendants, and I am willing to consider creative fee structures. My winning formula is based on a combination of innovative legal strategies, sound judgment and relentless determination to obtain the best possible result for my clients.

Securities Law

In the securities field, I have successfully represented hundreds of individual investors who sustained losses in the stock market. I have also represented numerous brokers and brokerage firms in both public and industry disputes. On behalf of my investor clients, I have achieved significant recoveries against many of the largest securities firms in the United States - including Merrill Lynch, Citigroup Global Markets, Citicorp Investment Services, Salomon Smith Barney, UBS Paine Webber, Morgan Stanley, Bear Stearns, A.G. Edwards & Sons, Robertson Stephens, Prime Capital, Investec Ernst and AXA Advisors. I have successfully pursued claims for fraud, misrepresentation, unsuitable investments, unauthorized trading, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, failure to supervise, failure to disclose risk, negligence, and violation of various FINRA rules and regulations.

If you lost money in the stock market within the past six years, you may be entitled to recover your losses through arbitration. I will help you determine if you have a valid claim against your broker, brokerage firm or investment advisor. Once we determine that you have a valid claim, I will work with you on a contingent fee basis to pursue the best possible recovery.

Employment Law

The right to be free of discrimination in the workplace has become a hallmark of our society. Landmark legislation has been adopted on the Federal, State and local level to protect our rights in the workplace. My employment law practice focuses on individual discrimination claims involving Title VII, the New York State Human Rights Law, and the New York City Human Rights Law. Once I determine that a statutory or contractual right has been violated, I will work with you to develop a winning strategy and fight to obtain the best possible outcome.

Real Estate

My real estate practice includes a variety of residential and commercial transactions, including sales, leases and refinancing, as well as real estate-related litigation and brokerage disputes. Recognizing that the goal of any real estate transaction is to have a successful closing, I take pride in working with sellers, purchasers, landlords, lenders, agents, brokers and other interested parties to develop creative solutions to close the deal.
